The spirit of peace matched my footsteps on the Portuguese Camino de Santiago Espiritual route when I came across this little serenity garden, a patch of wild for meditation.
I often talk about the Camino spirit as joy, an awakening of the heart, as I experienced during my Camino Frances.
The Camino spirit was one of grief during my Portuguese Camino de Santiago, as I let go of the past and Sally, my beloved soul mate.
The Camino De Santiago has many names yet, for me, it’s the way of the heart, an experience that gives a person the ability to feel through a kaleidoscope of emotions until the clarity of peace is felt.
So, peace became the Camino spirit for me on my recent walk on the Portugal Espiritual route in May 2021.
Which is why I’m grateful to the many pilgrims and residents of the Camino who create little spaces like this one on all of the Camino de Santiago routes to give a pilgrim the opportunity to reflect on life and open up to the Camino spirit.
Thank you for making the Camino de Santiago such a special experience.
