Yes, it’s great news! After three and a half months, the Camino trails will officially reopen to pilgrims walking their way to Santiago de Compostela on the 1st July 2020.
This is the date that has been set by the Cathedral, the Pilgrim’s Office and many of the public hostels who will be reopening their doors from this date.
The decision was taken at a committee meeting of Xacobeo 2021 which included members of the Xunta of Galicia, Santiago City Council and the Archbishop of the area. After the closure of the Camino de Santiago due to the coronavirus crisis, the committee decided that conditions were such that the Camino and service providers could reopen to allow Pilgrims to wander the way once again.
